No Patrick, a sport coat with jeans is a bad idea. If you must wear a sport coat to be fashionable, get some dark blue slacks. If you must wear a sport coat to be warm, remember that sport coats are crap for heat insulation and get a real jacket.

You're missing the "casual Friday, but I have to look professional" crowd, which I include myself in. We are full suits all week except Friday, which jeans are appropriate. But I'm "senior leadership" so I have to dress it up a bit. Hence jeans and a sport coat.

Slacks and a sport coat are too dressy and then I'd get accused by the plebians...I mean lower level people...of not supporting casual Friday. Jeans without some sort of dressy addition means I could lose their respect. You know what happens then? Revolution.
